HOW I BECAME AN ESTATE AGENT IN 4 WEEKS WITH NO EXPERIENCE, SIMON’S STORY
By Brian Taylor | April 29, 2024

I asked Career Genius learner Simon how he got a job as an Estate Agent within 4 weeks of starting his course with us, this is what he said.
"I graduated from university with a degree in History in 2023 and had been finding it difficult to find a job, so I decided to change direction. When I first considered a career change into real estate, I was met with scepticism from friends and family. As with no prior experience in the industry, many thought it was an unrealistic goal in the current economic climate. But I was determined to succeed so I began searching for the best place to start.
That's when I stumbled upon the NFOPP Level 3 Technical Award in Residential Letting and Property Sales Course with Career Genius. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to gain the knowledge and qualifications needed to kickstart my career as an estate agent.
What appealed to me most about the course was its fast-track approach and the career support included. Completing it would not only equip me with the necessary skills but also provide a valuable qualification highly sought after by property firms.
I wasted no time and enrolled with Career Genius, eager to get started on my journey. One of the best pieces of advice Career Genius gave me was to add that I am currently taking the course to my CV even before completing it and use any knowledge I learnt in the course in interviews. Surprisingly, this simple addition opened doors for me that were previously closed. I think potential employers took notice of my commitment to professional development as I found myself receiving more interview invitations than I was used to.
Within just two weeks of applying for estate agency jobs, I had secured three interviews and received two job offers. The turnaround was astonishing, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I started my new role 2 weeks later.
Despite the demanding nature of the job, I am still dedicated to studying for my course in my free time. My aim is to become fully qualified before the summer arrives, further solidifying my position in the industry.
Reflecting on my journey, I'm grateful for the support Career Genius has given me and proud of the progress I've made in such a short time. It goes to show that with determination, the right direction, and a willingness to learn, anyone can achieve, even in a competitive field like estate agency."
